Tours Abroad

TN0049

Prague, 2003

The Main Orchestra normally undertakes a one week European tour every summer.

During these tours we find time and again that music can break down communication barriers and create lasting friendships.

In recent years we have made visits to Sweden, Holland, Germany, Italy, Estonia and the Czech Republic.

  • 2001 we visited our Italian twin town, Imola
  • 2002 we went to Wetzlar, our twin town in Germany
  • 2003 was Prague
  • 2004 took us to Noordwijk in Holland.

2005 found us once again in Imola in Italy, where we performed in

  • Bologna (29 July)
  • the fairytale village of Brisighella (30 July)
  • the neighbouring town of Cesena (31 July)
  • Imola itself (1 August)

To see how the Italians were looking forward to our arrival, have a look at this article from a Bologna newspaper.

The 2007 Tour, organised by an experienced tour company, Equity Travel, took us to France. We stayed at Le Bois du Lys, a Youth Centre just 20 kilometres outside Paris, from Sunday 22 July to Friday 27 July.

The cost, including half board accommodation and coach travel, was £375. We gave three concerts: one in Disneyland, one in the the famous Luxembourg Gardens in the very heart of Paris, and one in the Chateau de Chambourg. There was a day's sightseeing in Paris, a boat trip on the Seine and a day in Disneyland before the concert in the evening.

The 2008 Tour was to Holland, from Thursday 24th to Tuesday 29th July, with a full day pre-tour rehearsal and parents' meeting on Wednesday 23rd.
