Teddy Bears’ Concert in aid of Mayor’s Charities The Teddy Bears’ Musical Picnic Concert is being staged on Sunday, January 27th, at 2.30pm by the popular Colne Valley Youth Orchestra at the town’s Moot Hall. And this year the young musicians are set to introduce a variety of pieces to children of all ages including “Themes from 007” to “The Ugly Duckling”, from the waltz from “Masquerade” to “Sleigh Ride” together with the concert’s namesake “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic”. With that in mind it’s hoped that dozens of children and their parents will attend the concert with their teddies. The concert is in aid of the Mayor’s charities. The event offers children aged four and over the opportunity to have a go at conducting, join in by playing percussion instruments and to sing along as well as seeing young people enjoying performing in an orchestra. Colne Valley Musical Director Nigel Hildreth said: “This concert is a perfect way to get young children enjoying music played by an orchestra. We have them singing along, getting their own teddy bears to dance to the music and playing some percussion instruments to help our orchestra along. It’s a wonderful event and we’d love to see it packed out this year with lots of children and teddies. The concert is being supported this year by local music retailer Mann’s Music. Tickets ( prices: Adults £5.00, Children under 16 £3.50 under 2’s free and a family ticket of 2 adults and 2 children for £15.0) are available in advance from Mann’s Music and on the door. | ||
