Joint TO/MO Concert and Strawberry Tea Sunday 27th June
This was an excellent concert held in a pleasant new venue. There were a large number of both Training and Main Orchestra players in attendance who played their way through what must have been the hottest day of the year so far. There was a varied programme of music which was enjoyed by the audience as much as the strawberries and cream afterwards. It was great to have the Guitar Group back again to play and provide something different part way through the concert. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this such a good occasion. The Susan Boddy Shield was presented to Brittany Scott-Gunfield
Pre-tour rehearsal and concert on Sunday 25th July
The rehearsal will run from 10.00-1.00 as usual at the Sixth Form College. There will be a parents’ meeting at 2.00 with the concert starting at 2.30. Concert dress will be black and white. Please note that this concert is for the whole of the Main Orchestra and not just those going on tour! Tickets will be £5 adults and £3 children. This is a public concert and is supporting Nigel Chapman’s fund for the Moot Hall Organ so please encourage lots of friends and family to come and listen.
Main Orchestra Tour Monday 26th – Friday 30th July
This year’s tour is to Ouistreham in Normandy. It is a fantastic opportunity to play abroad and is often the highlight of the year for the players. Everyone should have received a letter with all of the final details on it and insurance details. Please note two VERY important points:
Gala Concert Saturday 4th September
This will be held as usual in St Botolph’s Church. Please note that this is for ALL Main Orchestra players and is the culmination of the year’s work. The concert will be attended by the Mayor, Sonia Lewis. Details on the ‘Future dates’ list. Free to all with a retiring collection
Open rehearsal Sunday 19th September
The Open Rehearsal is an opportunity for new players to try out both the Main Orchestra and the Training Orchestra to see if they would like to join. The Main Orchestra rehearsal runs from 10.00-4.00 with pizza provided at lunchtime. The Training Orchestra rehearsal runs from 2.00-4.00 as usual. If any TO players are thinking of trying out in the MO they should talk to Beverley and Chris in the first instance. Please remember to try to bring a friend along to this rehearsal
30th Anniversary Celebrations September 2011
Plans are being forged to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the orchestra; watch this space for details. The concert will be on Sunday 4th September 2011. Please put the date in your diary NOW!
Help Please
Thank you to the various people who have offered to help out with the running of the orchestra. Without parental help and support the orchestra really cannot continue to function. If anyone else would be willing to help out please let David Bobby know either by email or by calling on 01206 240057 | ||
